06/01/13: Noah's Ark Animal Welfare Association now accepts aluminum cans, ink cartridges and small electronics for recycling. Donate your aluminum cans in trash bags, not grocery bags, anytime at the shelter in the outside drop bin. Ink cartridges and small electronics can be dropped off at the shelter, thrift store, Carnegie Library or Trinidad Office Supply during normal business hours.
06/01/13: Las Animas County Livestock Association Annual Banquet, Cattleman of the Year award presentation and dance, Saturday, June 1 at Feed & More, 43510 Highway 160. Business meeting begins at 1 p.m. followed by risk management program speakers at 2 p.m. Barbeque banquet at 6 p.m., dance from 8 p.m. to midnight to Classic Country. Tickets $25 for banquet and dance, must purchase by May 24. Dance only tickets available at the door for $10.
06/07/13: The Trinidad/Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce will host the 28th Annual Santa Fe Trail Festival on June 7th and June 8th. The festival is free and open to the public. Activities will include street dances, continuous live entertainment all weekend on the Comcast Stage, children's games, food and craft vendors, the Kiwanis Duck Race down the Purgatoire River, local artisans and dance groups.
