Business Feature: Raton
In The Zone - Fitness Zone

In October of 2000, Richard and Laura Pintor opened the Fitness Zone in downtown Raton, New Mexico. The opening culminated at least two years of steady research and planning, in addition to several months of hard work by friends and family members to convert the historic DiLisio building into the health club facility. “Now we watch our members transform their minds and bodies,” says Richard. “It's such a positive atmosphere here, and so rewarding to help people improve the quality of their lives.”

The facility is 4,600 square feet including a 1,500-square-foot aerobic floor complete with Keiser Pro spin bikes, Quinton Treadmills, and Cybex Weight Machines. There is a machine for every body part, so members can customize their workouts. The weight training equipment is state of the art with 7,000 lbs. of freeweights and dumbbells.

But the Pintors didn't stop there. Last summer they jumped head first into the hottest fitness craze taking place all over the country - Fitness Boot Camp. It's an outdoor, stadium-based, cardiovascular and strength training class. Participants begin with a light warm-up of either jogging or kick boxing, then start stair work. The workout includes push-ups, jumping jacks, and abdominal exercises. Then, to finish off, there's an obstacle course. “It's an exciting and fun way to get in shape, creating a high-energy, competitive session,” adds Richard.

Now celebrating their third year of business, the Fitness Zone would like to thank all their loyal members, many who have been with them since the beginning. Richard remarks, “The fitness industry is in a constant state of change, and so are we. Our new fall classes began last month.” The schedule includes kick boxing, step, cardio cycling plus a morning cardio wake-up class. Just stop by for a schedule. If you're having trouble getting started consider hiring a personal trainer, someone who can customize a nutrition and exercise-based program to meet specific needs. The staff can guide and motivate members through their daily workouts. Just call or stop by for a free session with a personal trainer. “We also would like to invite others to try our fitness center for a couple of days,” say the Pintors. “Just ask for a free 2-day pass.” Start improving your quality of life today.
