Business Spotlight: Old Treasures Take on New Life
Second Chance Ranch Antiques& Collectables

Second Chance Ranch Antiques, Gifts & Collectibles opens June 1st in La Veta. It's all part of an adventure that Jerry and Liz Henson started planning six years ago when they first discovered La Veta. It all came true in May, 2001, when they moved here full time relocating from Steamboat Springs. Both Jerry and Liz have backgrounds in banking and retail/wholesale manufacturing, and all this knowledge is helping them in their new careers - Jerry in real estate, affiliated with Bachman & Associates in La Veta, and Liz in her new adventure - Second Chance Ranch Antiques, Gifts & Collectibles.

A lifelong love for antiques and collecting has helped Liz bring together her dream of owning her own shop. The shop will specialize in primitive and vintage antiques, architectural salvage pieces, such as old doors, windows, lamps and corbels that can be incorporated into new construction, as well as unique gift items such as candles, wreaths, Christmas ornaments, potpourri and soaps. Because of her passion for gardening, the entire back yard will be devoted to wonderful pots, urns, fountains, garden furniture and birdhouses. Interior design service will also be offered. "Come browse through our cozy shop, see all of our fabulously fun objects for decorating your home, and have a seat in our outdoor garden." Second Chance Ranch is located at 106 E. Francisco (just a few steps off Main Street). The grand opening happens June 1st with daily hours from 10am to 5:30pm Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4pm on Sunday, but special appointments can also be arranged.
