Just last August, Mike Holvick, a chiropractor, arrived in La Veta with his mother, wife, two children, and their family dog. Mike started his practice in 1985 in his home state of New Jersey, then later in Charleston, South Carolina.

     Their quest to settle in Colorado began nine years earlier on their tenth wedding anniversary after their first of many trips to the Rockies. After moving and setting up shop in Walsenburg, they were warmly welcomed into the community by becoming members of the La Veta Rotary, the Walsenburg Chamber of Commerce, and their children became active members in the Snowy Mountain 4-H. Dr. Mike has 15 years experience, including physical therapy, x-rays, and a registered nurse on staff providing affordable, quality health care. The office accepts most insurance plans and processes the claims during morning and evening hours.

     Stephanie Holvick has been a registered nurse since 1982 and an operating room nurse in university settings. With surgery experience and specializing in plastic surgery, it seemed natural her path would lead to permanent makeup. A procedure where permanent eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner, and scar camouflage are performed to create a natural look. Trained in 1993, she has worked with the visually impaired, chemotherapy patients, the handicapped, and healthy women who want to look good all the time but don't have the time or expertise. The Center for Permanent Makeup is also located in the Walsenburg Chiropractic office. Consultations are complimentary. Clients review before and after photos of others. Stephanie can apply temporary eyebrows, eyeliner or lip liner. Then clients go home and decide whether or not to have the procedure done. Permanent make up is permanent and will always be there, but does tend to fade with time, so touch-ups are encouraged yearly.
