Armida Vallejo began her retail career in women's clothing 25 years ago as a store manager for Lerner's at the Pueblo Mall, but now currently owns and manages Armida's Boutique and Stuff in Walsenburg. With the help and support of her husband Bob, she opened the business April 1, 1993, in the old Walsenburg Post Office. The historical building still has the Post Office's original walk-in safe.

Armida's carries various sizes of clothing from regular, plus, petite and some juniors. Merchandise lines include dresses, sportswear, Rocky Mountain Jeans, Lee Jeans, jackets, lingerie and accessories, as well as Minnie Tonka Moccasins for women.    Armida's also offers an endless selection of gift items including gift boxes, wind chimes, glass paper weights, figurines, candles, religious items, Betty Boop collectibles and other assorted items. “Anyone who has ever tried to run a business knows it's a challenge,” Armida says. “I guess we're doing something right. We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary on April 1.” Armida received the Huerfano County and La Veta / Cuchara Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Award in 2001. According to Larry Patrick and others who nominated Armida's Boutique for the award, “Armida and Bob Vallejo have a business that Walsenburg can be proud of. People from throughout Southern Colorado, including those from bigger cities, shop there. Armida's Boutique brings part of the big city to us, while creating an atmosphere to enjoy the shopping experience in this small community. Armida's has a unique selection of items that people prefer, supports numerous community events, and sets a good example for other businesses to follow. Everyone who works there is always courteous and helpful.” Working along with Bob and Armida are Mary Manzanares and Eileen Cordova. “We would like to thank all our friends and customers who have been supportive over the past ten years, and we look forward to serving you in the future.”
