Business Feature - Trinidad
Colt Ranch Adventures

“Dream no small dreams,” reads the carved inscription in this newly constructed timber frame home. The residence sits on 240 acres, 16 miles west of Trinidad. Colt Ranch is pleased to provide the finest in the way of western lodging, food and entertainment. Your hosts, Jim and Darlene Colt, retreated from their health care professions in the Denver area in the summer of 2004. They were excited to build a new home on the ranch property they had owned for 8 years. The land is now home to a small herd of Highland cattle, six horses, and two miniature burros. The Colt Ranch is the perfect setting for an intimate bed and breakfast, family reunions, weddings, team building and corporate retreats. The home meets the ADA requirements for those individuals with such needs.

The warmth of the home embraces you as you enter and gaze upward at the 28-foot ceiling. The three guest bedrooms are large, each with a distinctive theme. The Primero Room, located on the main floor, is decorated with memorabilia from the historic mining town of the same name. The Native American and Cowboy rooms located on the second floor welcome guests with their clawfoot bathtubs and corner fireplaces. A furnished two bedroom and two bath apartment is also located above the carriage house for folks who desire this type of accommodation. In season, guests looking for a unique lodging experience are welcome to stay in the comfortably furnished Sheepherder wagon or tipi. Try your hand at cracking a bull whip or roping the iron steer. In addition to the traditional B&B, the Colts also offer gourmet cooking and baking classes, afternoon teas, stagecoach rides with a full course chuck wagon dinner, and a Sunday brunch. The sites and sounds of the Old West are found here at the Colt Ranch.

Call for upcoming events or to book your own private party. The Colts look forward to your visit.
