Business Spotlight: Stonewall
Total One-Stop Shopping - Stonewall Shopping Bag

This spring Terry Carmichael purchased the Stonewall Shopping Bag, then spent months cleaning and remodeling the facility. As you arrive, you’ll notice the newly painted exterior and wonderful custom-made signage out front. When entering, the new lighting and paint scheme surrounds you. The dining room is freshly painted and decorated to match Stonewall’s beauty, and Terry is collecting old photographs of the area to complete the decor. The kitchen was remodeled, and new flooring, plumbing and all new electric service was installed. The food storage and preparation areas were also extensively remodeled.

The Stonewall Shopping Bag is a multi-faceted business. The restaurant seats 46 and boasts a breakfast served all day, including an awesome Stonewall Breakfast Burrito. Pies, cookies, and muffins are made fresh on-site. The menu has been expanded with burgers, fries and green chili, as the local favorites, while the to-go orders are popular with fishermen. The grocery store is sufficiently stocked to serve locals, tourists, and seasonal visitors. Even the liquor store has expanded and a gift /antique shop is located in the lower level. The RV area has been revamped to accommodate the many people who live and work in the surrounding area, and each site now has high-speed internet, satellite TV, and a direct phone line. To further serve the campers, the laundromat has been remodeled with updated plumbing, fresh paint, and video games

.

Terry has extensive history in this area. Her mother was born and raised near Aguilar and her father grew up in Trinidad. Although Terry grew up in Pueblo where her parents taught school, she attended Western State College in Gunnison and Colorado State University, then began working in the food manufacturing industry with such companies as Carnation, A&P, and Kraft. Her work took her to Iowa, Indiana, New York, Minnesota and Texas. By 1990, she opened her own management consulting firm specializing in process improvement and Total Quality Management with extensive travel. Retiring in 1998, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by returning to the family cabin in Stonewall. Terry invites you to come by for a visit and see the improvements. She and her team of friendly employees look forward to serving you. Business hours are from 6:30am to 8pm, every day.
