A
NEW
WAY
TO BANK
Just within the past decade, banking institutions of all
shapes and sizes have experienced constant change in their industry. Locally,
another change is about to occur -- Internet banking is on the horizon. If you
are an account holder at the First National Bank in Trinidad or any of its
branch banks, you could be banking on the Web as early as this spring. An
estimated 7 to 8 million people now bank online and another 12 million people
are expected to join the ranks by 2002. It's called iBank and all you need is a
computer, an internet service provider and a browser. Its a graphical interface
that allows you see your money and make choices with the click of a mouse. If
you can navigate a web page on the internet, you can use iBank.
| In many ways, the Internet is the
best thing to happen to banking since the ATM. Banking online offers greater
flexibility than traditional branch banking and more functionality than phone
banking. It puts you in control, letting you choose your own banking hours. It
even helps you organize all of your financial records such as taxes, loans,
credit cards, checking and savings accounts in one place on your computer. |

Meanwhile, if you'd like a demonstration of how it looks and
works use www.fnbtdad.com/demo and follow the iBank link. iBank gives a whole
new meaning to the term "net worth".

At the same time that we are working
to bring you banking on the Internet, essentially a child of the 1990s, we are
also launching a three phased project to restore our main office building, a
child of the 1890s. While very different conceptually, these two projects go far
in defining who we are as a bank. Improved access, especially via the Internet,
is certainly not an option for us, but, just as importantly in this market,
historical identity and restoration must also place high on our priority list.
In the next two years we will have all of the eroded and weathered sandstone on
the familiar facade located at Main and Commercial in Trinidad replaced or
restored. The work will be performed by Professional Restoration and Repair,
owned by Craig L. Nelson of Colorado Springs. Feel free to give them a call at
719/632-3996 if you have a restoration job of your own that you would like to
discuss. |

GROWING
NETWORK
Next time you're traveling through Raton you might notice a
familiar sign. We have recently added another ATM service center to our existing
network of eight. Over the past couple of years a sizable amount of deposit and
loan activity has originated from northern New Mexico. The newest ATM in our
network is a drive-up facility that provides cash withdrawals, account balance
inquiries, or transfer & deposit taking, including an automated night drop
for commercial deposits. It can be found in the Do–a Ana Shopping Center
parking lot at 1247 S. 2nd Street. All account holders of First National or its
branches in Walsenburg, at Wal-Mart, and the Loan Production Office in Raton can
use this new ATM at no cost. |
