05/30/15: Fishers Peak Horse Association (FPHA) offers affordable equine events to the Las Animas County community, which include all breed horse shows, trail rides, clinics, fun days, barrel races and good ole family fun. The All Breed Horse Shows offer events for children under 5 years of age, 8 and under, 9 to 13, 14 to 18, and 19 and over, and will be held at the Las Animas County Fairgrounds in Trinidad from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 30, June 20, July 18, August 15 and September 12. 06/13/15: The annual Fantasy Kruizers Car and Bike Show will be held on Saturday, June 13 in front of Brix in Trinidad. 06/19/15: The Trinidad/Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce will host the 30th annual Santa Fe Trail Festival on June 19th and 20th. Due to planned construction on Commercial and Main Streets, the festival will be held at Central Park this year. This fun weekend of festivities is free and open to the public. 06/19/15: Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre presents "Music Man" at the Famous Performing Arts Center on June 19, 20, 26, 27, 28, July 12, 24, August 1, 9, 14, 22, and September 5. 06/06/15: The first annual Local Food and Artisan Fair begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 6th in Heritage Park, 400 Main Street in Walsenburg. 05/30/15: The Sugarite Canyon State Park Annual Fishing Derby will be held on May 30th through June 7th. Cast a line for big cash and prizes - including a boat! This three-day derby takes place at Lake Maloya in Sugarite Canyon State Park. Participants try to catch tagged fish, which means an immediate prize and entrance into the cash drawing. All registered participants are entered into the drawing for a V-hull fishing boat on a trailer with an electric trolling motor. For more information, call (575) 445-5607.
