Community asked to help with 20th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive
This year will be the 20th year that The First National Bank in Trinidad has sponsored an annual Thanksgiving Food Drive in Trinidad. Over the past 19 years, countless families have received a Thanksgiving surprise on the Sunday before Thanksgiving when volunteers delivered food baskets and gift certificates for groceries and dining out at local restaurants. “The Bank will be collecting cash donations and distributing grocery gift cards to families in need this year.” says First National Bank in Trinidad event coordinators, Corey Gonzales and Christa Smith-Prieto.
“Over the years, many families were so overwhelmed that they could not find the words to express their gratitude,” says Mrs. Gonzales. “The generosity of the people, businesses and organizations in this community has been unbelievable! We hope that this year will be no different.” Several bank employees will assist in delivering gift cards by the weekend before Thanksgiving.
“In 17 days, we hope to collect enough cash donations to provide grocery gift cards for many local families in need. Families without cooking facilities will be given gift certificates to go out for a family meal. Only cash donations will be accepted, and every little bit helps!” says Mrs. Smith-Prieto. Donations are accepted now through November 17th at any First National Bank in Trinidad location. “As a community, let’s come together to do a good thing . . . by giving for Thanksgiving!”
