The First National Bank in Trinidad opened its doors on April 16, 1875, a year before Colorado was granted its statehood and the town of Trinidad was incorporated.  Founded by local businessman and community leader, Frederick Wight, the Bank began on the Santa Fe Trail, with pioneers who blazed their way to the untamed West, and has ventured into the 21st century with a spirit not unlike the early pioneers.

150 Anniversary Sm Banner.jpg

The First National Bank in Trinidad opened its doors on April 16, 1875, a year before Colorado was granted its statehood and the town of Trinidad was incorporated. First National began a journey traveling and growing with the nation, the West, and Trinidad through the best and worst of times. Founded by local businessman and community leader, Frederick Wight, the bank began on the Santa Fe Trail, with pioneers who blazed their way to the untamed West, and has ventured into the 21st century with a spirit not unlike the early pioneers.

Today, large financial institutions operate amid the tall skyscrapers in a hectic big-business world, but people who live and work in more rural settings appreciate the convenience and friendliness of a ‘hometown’ bank like The First National Bank in Trinidad. This culture was established in 1875 by leadership that began with Frederick Wight, and was carried forward by the likes of Frank Bloom and M.D. Thatcher. The baton has been passed on through the years, and has been championed by the Eisemann family for the past 65 years.
