Great Success with Local Gift Trees!

Two local communities benefited from gift tree programs sponsored by The First National Bank in Trinidad and the Huerfano County Branch in Walsenburg this Christmas.

In cooperation with South Central Council of Governments, Huerfano County Human Services and Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center the Huerfano County Branch was able to supply 71 veterans, 13 children and 36 senior citizens in Huerfano County with a gift from Santa this year.

2024 Milestone Anniversaries

The First National Bank in Trinidad has been part of the foundation of Trinidad since 1875. Many have come and gone since it was established 149 years ago. But some have stayed longer than others, leaving their mark on the institution that was formed one year before Colorado became a state, and four years before Trinidad was incorporated. In 2024, the following individuals celebrated milestone anniversaries with the organization.

Community Gives Generously to
Thanksgiving Food Drive

This year, 83 local families received a Thanksgiving surprise this year when gift certificates were delivered to families within the community.  “Tears of joy and appreciation were flowing when we distributed these Thanksgiving gifts,” says First National Bank event coordinator, Christa Smith-Prieto.  Within 15 days, $5,216 in cash donations were collected for area families in need.  Safeway in Trinidad was very helpful with issuing gift cards to ensure the recipients received them in time to shop for a holiday meal.

Two local communities will benefit from Gift Tree programs sponsored by The First National Bank in Trinidad and the Huerfano County Branch in Walsenburg. Each location has its own gift program with matching deadlines. Here are the details on each.

The Huerfano County Branch is planning their North Pole Gift Tree for the holidays once again, in cooperation with the Huerfano County Social Services Agency, Council of Governments, Walsenburg Housing Authority and Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center. Last year they brightened the lives of numerous children who wrote to Santa requesting baby dolls, toy trucks and cars, warm gloves and hats to name a few items, as well as requests from residents of the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center.
